[1Now certain man was ill, Laz'arus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
Genesis 43.[6] Israel said, "Why did you treat me so ill as to tell the man that you2 had another brother?"

the question is whether Martha was with her sister and the Jews? v 31 reads differently if this is true.  Martha returns in the narrative v 39

(could v 3 be read in 2 ways?):
1.  Jacob passes 'the children and women' and bows and/or
2.  Esau passes 'his four hundred men' and bows; Esau initiates encounter
and the question of who is (      ) (of mutuality and reconciliation of 'brother').

This is a radical interpretation of possibility: I know it may offend some people.  The intention is to find peace and reunification in the narrative that embraces separate traditions.

Esau and Jacob-Israel separated after this encounter after Esau's invitation for Jacob-Israel to follow:
Gen 33.
[16] So Esau returned that day on his way to Se'ir
[17] But Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and (      ) built himself a house, and (      ) made booths for his cattle; / therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. 

'Seir' in abarim:
The general root שער (s'r) appears to primarily express intense negative emotion or the experience of violence. Curiously, it also yields words that have to do with hair.
'Succoth' in abarim:
The root סכך (sakak) or שכך (sakak) speaks of the creation of a hedge of sorts from interwoven strands of sorts. It commonly describes how prickly branches interweave to create a defensive hedge to hide behind and to look intently out from. In a figurative sense it may describe any sort of protective thing that consists of many separate branches, and from which one looks out.


4 Ezra 6.
[7] And I answered and (      ) said, "What will be the dividing of the times? / Or when will be the end of the first age and the beginning of the age that follows?" 
[8] He said to me, "From Abraham to Isaac, / because from him were born Jacob and Esau, for Jacob's hand held Esau's heel from the beginning. 
[9] For Esau is the end of this age, and Jacob is the beginning of the age that follows. (retaliation to reconciliation?)
[10] For the beginning of a man is his hand, and the end of a man is his heel; / between the heel and the hand seek for nothing else, Ezra!

Gen 25.
[26] Afterward his brother came forth, and his hand had taken hold of Esau's heel; / so his name was called Jacob. / Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.
Gen 33.
[10] Jacob said, "No, I pray you, if I have found favor in your sight, then accept my present from my hand; / for truly to see your face is like seeing the face2 of God, with such favor have you received me.

These are speculations: the point is to open up to positive possibilities 


[24] Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name2; / ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
v 24b: second fragment brings joy     thus 1-2-3
v 21b:  but when she is delivered of the child, she2 no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a child2 is born into the world. 
15.[11] These things I have spoken to you, that my joy1 may be in you2, and that your joy2 may be full.


[25] "I have said this to you in figures; / the hour is coming when I shall no longer speak to you in figures but tell you2 plainly of the Father.


[26] In that day2 you will ask in my name; / and I do not say to you that I2 shall pray the Father for you2;
[27] / for the Father himself loves you, because you2 have loved me and (      )3 have believed that I came from the Father.    2-3

John 14.
[13] Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;
[14] / if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
[26] But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you2.

[16] You did not choose me, but I chose you2 and ( I2 )appointed you3 that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit2 should abide; / so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you2.

[23] In that day you will ask nothing of me. / Truly, truly, I say to you, if you2 ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you3 in my name.
